How To: Style Basic Pieces (Without Being Basic)
As we all know, "less is more", pack your closet full of staple pieces so you never fail to have the perfect outfit. Basic is the new black. White or black tank tops and t-shirts can make a relaxed look much more chic and put together.
It's the simple things in life that make it so wearable. Think wide leg jeans, blazers, bra tops, and your dads button up shirts. These classic looks are timeless and can be re-worn hundreds of different ways and for years to come.
Don't just take my word for it, much of the trends we see everyday come from Pinterest and other social media platforms.
"My taste in style has evolved significantly. I'm not proud to say I had fallen victim to fast fashion trends though" - Hannah Lyons, 20
Fast fashion is a phenomenon we are all unfortunate enough to live through. The extreme rate at which people purchase, consume, and then decide the garment is "out of style" is absurdly high and it rises everyday. This idea of overconsumption is caused by apps like TikTok and Instagram where media revolves around what car you drive, what house you live in, and what clothes you wear.
Instead, consider thrifting or up-cycling clothes you already have to give them a new life.
