Business Branding: Why it's important
Consistency is Key
When working with an organization's branding, you want to ensure that you are accurately conveying the businesses goals, characteristics and approach strategy. For example, the business I chose is a local nail salon. The goal of the salon for their branding is to convey luxury, relaxing, quick and professional manicure and pedicure services. Design components that convey self care, luxury and beauty are organic objects such as flowers and other whispy things. You wouldnt want to have a super contemporary design on the business card because you want people to feel relaxed.
The Flow of Things
Not only does consistent branding enhance the readers overall experience, it can also instill common themes and goals into the readers mind. This means that simply by seeing the color crimson, we think of the University of Oklahoma. Fonts, sizes and shapes are all important parts of composition that should reflect the theme and overall design of the brand or company. If a person can see components of your brand without being told, ie. they can recognize your branding without a logo, its a good thing. Red and yellow have been associated with McDonald's for decades.
Cohesive Materials
Down below you will see my real life client, La Fleur Nails & Spa Norman. They hired me in hopes of enhancing and revamping their social media presence. They wanted someone who can completely focus on highlighting important and interesting aspects of the salon. A chic, trendy, boho and floral vibe was warranted. We gravitated towards this theme because we felt like one thing everyone has in common is a love for flowers, they smell and look beautiful and fresh, everything you want and more for your nails.
