Social Media
How to approach social media campaigns
When regarding social media posts, you must approach them carefully and in a niche way. Instead of trying to completely combine text and graphic content, there are different areas for both.
Due to the fact that Instagram is predominately photos and videos, and less about the text, it can be beneficial to add words to the graphic to catch the attention of readers and viewers. Only a certain number of interested viewers actually take the time to actually read the caption of the photo or video. That is why it may be effective to add keywords to the graphic.
Facebook and Twitter
Facebook and Twitter users are far more likely to use the comment or caption feature. The entire premise of Twitter is that people can type out their opinions, news, theories, questions, and much more on a public platform, whereas Instagram acts as a photo and video wall.
Keeping things consistent
One main important thing I tried to keep in mind while planning, designing, and creating my social media posts was which kind of audience would be viewing it, and if someone saw this without any logos or branding, would they know it's about the University of Oklahoma? I used consistent text, fonts, and colors to convey the consistency that I need to represent my client.
Tools to utilize
Even prior to public relations design, I loved using Canva. It acts as a platform that serves hundreds and even thousands of templates and different designs for any kind of social media post. It is nice because you can render images and look things up straight from the Canva website to use in the composition of your overall design.
